Mannon Oil

Unlocking American Oil and Gas

Dale Mahaffey
Dale Mahaffey
Head of Engineering

Dale Mahaffey joined Mannon Oil as Petroleum Engineer in October 2006. He was Manager of Environmental Engineering at Bear Creek Environmental Systems, an oil field service company based in North Louisiana. As part of the management team, he helped to initiate the consulting division, with a focus on helping independent oil and gas producers minimize their environmental and regulatory exposure, comply with new regulations, respond cost-effectively to spills, and maximize their property value prior to asset sales. He was also responsible for developing new business alliances, markets and clientele.

From 2002 to 2005 and 1994 to 1998, Mr. Mahaffey was an independent consultant, providing engineering consulting services to oil and gas producers in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas. His services included acquisition and divestiture evaluations, year end reserve audits, detailed field studies focused on identifying bypassed production in old fields and the implementation of new analytical software technologies. In addition, he helped oil producers, transporters and refiners develop environmental programs to comply with new oil and gas regulatory requirements.

From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Mahaffey worked with Schlumberger-Holditch Reservoir Technologies as a Senior. Petroleum Engineer. During this time, he conducted or managed integrated field studies combining engineering, geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data and proprietary work products to identify undeveloped or bypassed oil and gas reserves in geologically complex fields. He conducted property evaluations for acquisitions, divestitures, litigation support and estate tax settlements and conducted screening studies of select oil and gas properties for potential Schlumberger/Client joint venture/alliance opportunities. In addition, he marketed specific geologic and geophysical regional technical studies and helped to implement proprietary reconnaissance and trouble-shooting techniques to identify and quantify new drilling and production optimization opportunities in mature fields.

From 1977 to 1982, Mr. Mahaffey held a number of positions with Mobil Oil in South Louisiana, including Operations/Completions Engineer, Offshore Production Foreman, Reservoir Engineer and Environmental Engineer. In addition to the typical technical responsibilities associated with these positions, his experience included work on soft sediment core analysis procedures, corporate technical database development, offshore drilling/platform location optimization software, special reservoir studies, and offshore field development planning.

Mr. Mahaffey received his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1977, B.S. in Mathematics Education and B.A. in Liberal Arts from Northeast Louisiana University in 1976 and 1977, respectively.
